Authorities cuff at least 3 after reported migrant landing on Haulover Beach

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Three men were taken into custody after a possible migrant landing on Haulover Beach in Miami-Dade County early Thursday evening.

Sky 10 flew over the beach at around 5:30 p.m. where Miami-Dade police could be seen with the possible migrants. U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Coast Guard also responded.

The handcuffed men were seen sitting on the sand near Lifeguard Tower 5.

Video captured from Haulover Beach showed a single engine speed boat approaching the shore. Eventually it stalled near the beach and then, one by one, a handful of people are seen jumping off.

It’s not clear if authorities have taken any more people into custody.

Local 10 News contacted authorities seeking additional information. CBP said it was investigating a possible smuggling event, but did not provide any information on who was taken into custody or their country of origin.
