Tips for keeping pets calm during Fort Lauderdale Air Show

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Fort Lauderdale Air Show flies into South Florida this weekend.

Military and civilian demonstrations are painting the skies off Fort Lauderdale Beach.

The roaring sounds of the jets can be exhilarating for us, but scary for our pets.

Cherie Wachter with the Broward Humane Society broke down some easy and useful tips to keep your fur babies safe and comfortable throughout the weekend-long festivities.

“Dogs’ ears are super sensitive they are much more sensitive than ours, it’s amazing what they can hear. I think they can hear the vibration of things coming,” said Watcher. “Bring (your pets) in the house, maybe give them their favorite toy, a special treat, turn some music on, but calm music, and they also sell over-the-counter treats that have different calming things in them.”

Also, “thundervests” have become a go-to favorite to help with the jet engine jitters.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are headlining this year’s show.
