Mother, infant escape after fire erupts inside northwest Miami-Dade home

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A large fire erupted Wednesday afternoon at a home in northwest Miami-Dade.

Sky 10 was above the 5100 block of Northwest 194th Lane shortly before 3 p.m. as firefighters had nearly extinguished the blaze.

Dianna Placeres told Local 10 News’ Roy Ramos that she and her 3-month-old daughter were inside when the fire erupted.

Fortunately, they were able to make it out safely, but a family pet did not.

“We lost a dog, I couldn’t get her out of the house,” Placeres said.

Light smoke was still coming from the rear of the home, which was heavily damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
