‘Still in shock’: Woman’s family speaks after husband’s arrest in Spain kidnapping case

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Family members of Ana Maria Knezevich addressed media outlets Wednesday following the arrest earlier in the week of her estranged husband.

Federal agents arrested David Knezevich, 36, at Miami International Airport after accusing him of kidnapping Ana Maria Knezevich while in Spain.

She disappeared in February. Court documents laid out federal authorities’ case against David Knezevich.

“It’s been a very devastating time for us,” Felipe Henao, Ana Maria Knezevich’s brother said. “We’re still in shock.”

He later added that his family feels a “great betrayal” over what happened.

Henao, who thanked his sister’s friends and authorities, added, “I just want justice for my sister.”

A reporter asked him what he thinks happened to his sister.

“I don’t know, I just want to let the investigators do their job and follow the facts,” Henao answered.

Multiple neighbors told Local 10 News that FBI agents were seen at the Knezevich home on Wednesday.

Following Knezevich’s arrest, Sanna Rameau, a friend of Ana Maria Knezevich, told Local 10 News Monday, “The only thing I can say right now is that I am happy that there has been an arrest in this case, and we are hoping that this next chapter will bring justice and we find answers about what has happened to Ana.”

David Knezevich’s attorney has declined to comment on the case.
