Dolphins earn 5th straight win by beating Chargers 29-21
The surprising Miami Dolphins earned their fifth consecutive victory, beating the Los Angeles Chargers 29-21 Sunday. The Chargers were also outplayed on special teams, where they were hurt by two mistakes that allowed Miami to take a 14-0 lead. Jakeem Grant, the NFL leader in punt return yards, helped the Dolphins’ field position with three runbacks for 57 yards. Nick Vigil made a 44-yard return before Tagovailoa tackled him, and Herbert scored on a fourth-down sneak to make it 14-7. Chargers: They play the second of three consecutive games against the AFC East when they host the New York Jets on Sunday.
Dolphins lose DL Wilkins, LB Van Noy to COVID list
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins have lost two starters to the Reserve/Covid-19 list ahead of Sunday’s game against the Chargers. The team placed defensive tackle Christian Wilkins and linebacker Kyle Van Noy on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the players tested positive, it could also mean they have been quarantined after coming into close contact with someone who has tested positive. The team also placed reserve wide receiver Matt Cole on that list, while activating another wide receiver, Lynn Bowden, Jr.
Wilkins finds protests personal, hopes to be spark of hope
The former first round pick talked about the protests around the country concerning racial injustice and police brutality. Wilkins said, Whats going on in the country right now is extremely personal for me. Wilkins said, Its my job to use my platform to shed a positive light, to be a spark of hope through all of this.As far as kneeling, Wilkins said hell figure it out as the season gets closer. He believes its something that the team will talk about as the season gets closer. Wilkins said, It hurts to see whats happening to a lot of people that look like me.
Wilkins, Dolphins rookies go golfing with kids from Big Brothers, Big Sisters
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Dolphins rookies spent their off day giving back to the community. First round pick Christian Wilkins was among the Dolphins at Top Golf in Miami Gardens. Wilkins joined children from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. They were joined by local law enforcement for fun and a little golf. The Dolphins are taking part in a program called #DolphinsHuddlefor100.
Christian Wilkins not worried about his Madden rating
DAVIE, Fla. - Dolphins rookie Christian Wilkins is not worried about his Madden rating. Wilkins said, "I didn't think about it too much. As a little fat, chubby kid you dream of being in Madden one day and playing in the NFL." Wilkins said that he will have a long career and plenty of time to get his rating up. The Madden rating is important to some, Wilkins said, because players around the league want to be respected and see the rating as a sign of respect.
